about
"Let Me Cry" means a lot to me for a couple reasons...
first, it examines the male experience w/ grief (specifically, the act of crying) and how difficult it can be to PERMIT oneself to pour out those emotions in light of subconscious efforts to withhold them. there's a lot more to unpack there, but i owe many thanks to @instamiles whose inspirational LP, 'Good Man' more deeply explores the question of maleness and internalized masculinity. PLEASE give their album a listen!!
second, i want to make and release music much more quickly. art is never "perfect", and at some point it just needs to be "done". i started this track in late January and am releasing it in late March (which is a record for me 😭). i want to make the norm as much as possible.

lyrics
Tell me
Why I feel so alive
On the worst day of my life (it feels wrong)
Father,
Let me see you cry
Won’t you show me what it’s really like (when the light’s gone)
Young man
But I’m galvanized
Been so long since the well ran dry (been so long)
Brother,
When we said goodbye
I wish I’d known it’d be the last time
Let me cry
